Our roof is leaking and not in just one spot but in at least 2 different spots and in our bedroom we could hear a constant drip behind the wall - enough to drive me batty!!! So hubby spent 2+ hours on the roof last night in the dark, shovelling once again, all the snow off our roof and chipping away at the ice up there. We have had record snow falls here in Edmonton. Why oh why is it always something! There is some minor (at least I think it's minor) damage to the wall, that I'm sure hubby can fix. There are companies here in Edmonton that will clean off your roof for you. who Knew. There was an article in our daily newspaper saying that with these record snow falls, roof snow removal companies are backlogged and have long waiting lists. They said residential homes start at $350 (Yikes!) and $750 for businesses. So on the plus side for a little inconvenience on hubby's part, we were able to save
$350. Hubby can hardly move his arms today though, poor guy.
I am happy to report thought that I could actually get to sleep last night as the "dripping" behind our wall has subsided.
If that happens next time, you better get your buckets and pails on standby so your hubby can clean the roof while you catch all those drips from above. Also, I think you should consider getting your roof checked before it goes awry.

Perhaps, it needs more that just cleaning. Sierra is right; you might need to have your roofs checked before things turn worst. It’s better to have a permanent fix than temporary remedies.

I'm glad you were able to save bucks! But I think more than just removing the snow off the roof, you need to have it professionally checked or repair if there are any ice dams. Piece of advice: have your roof insulated.
