Parent's/In-Laws Gifts

This coming weekend will be baking cookies to send to my parents in BC. I always make these soft ginger cookies and send them to my parents and give them to my in-laws and they are always a hit. I am also making/sending a different type this year, to go with the ginger cookies, they are orange cranberry and white chocolate soft cookies. I really hope they like them - plus the great part is that I always make an extra batch of each kind for us also.

We add a gift card to a restaurant and voila, there are their christmas presents. We put the cookies in festive decorative tins. We get the Tins at the dollar store.

I'm amazed and pleased to see, how many nice Christmas tins, wrap, bags and decorations you can get at the dollar store - our favorite is the Dollarama chain, not sure if it's in the US or not.

Paying It Forward...

The office I work in, is doing a really fantastic thing - they gave everyone $100 yesterday to "pay it forward" as in one of the Oprah shows - meaning, this money is to help someone or people, we don't know, total strangers - it can be used in one lump sum for someone or it can be spread out over different people. The only thing is - it can't be given to a charity. The money/gesture is meant to do something nice, so that in turn, that person can "pay it forward" to someone else. We have until Dec 12th to do something and whoever still has money left over, needs to return it to the Management Dept.

Festival of Trees

The Festival of Trees is this weekend, we are going to go on Saturday afternoon. Admission for both of us will be $6 each. There is also a special farmer's market downtown - supposedly in heated tents - sure hope so!!! We might check this out also.

The last time I was at the Festival of Trees, was probably 6 years ago and hubby has never been, so it will be fun. They usually have a gingerbread competition also, along with entertainment. I have budgeted $40 for this outing, this will have to cover admission, parking and anything we buy.
